Life has a funny way of giving you little gifts along the way to help you along your journey; and this is just what happened on Saturday, September 29. One of our friends went grocery shopping at Price Chopper and some people inside the store asked her if she wanted to buy a hot dog. (It was raining pretty hard that day.) She said yes of course and asked what they were raising money for. They responded, well it is for Kevin, and then came a “Hi there” from behind her. She turned around and there was this smiling guy and his guide dog.

Wouldn’t you know it; the guy was Kevin Frost, a deaf-blind speed skater who was raising funds to go represent Canada in Russia at the Paralympics National Championship in 2010. They got talking and upon hearing Lisa’s story, Kevin said he wanted to help, our friend e-mailed him our web site address and here is part of Kevin’s response:

“After reading Lisa's website, I decided that her fight is more important to focus on than my journey. I would like to donate half of my proceeds to Lisa's fund. It's not a lot but if everyone would do the same, your goal would be met.

On another note, I also belong to the Orleans Lions Club. Could you please draft a letter up for me so I can present it at the next Lions meeting?

Your new friend,

Kevin and Nemo

Not only is Kevin Frost helping us, he is taking time and effort out of his fundraising campaign to help us with ours, his offer is truly heartwarming. None of us knew Kevin Frost before last Saturday, we have since read his story on his web site at http://www.deafblindspeedskater.com and we were truly impressed. He is an inspiration and we are deeply touched by his generosity. Thank you Kevin and we will keep our fingers crossed for you to win that gold medal in Russia. This quote from Kevin says it all: “My philosophy has been if someone throws you a negative, you throw a positive back at them. I am not going to give up." - Kevin Frost
